Located in Southern NSW where we have hot summers (long periods of 45 degrees C) and comparatively cold winters (down to -10 degrees C at night, daytime approx 12-16degrees C)
I am happy with the ornamental garden I have inside my corner residential fenceline, but have a large "verge" along 3 boundaries. 1 of these slopes down to the road and is difficult to mow. So I have transformed the steeper section into drought tolerant ornamental and herb garden focussing on bees and butterflies, and a section of the more level area is dedicated to vegetables.
I received local Council permission to put the garden in and although it is on public land, I am happy with the idea of locals helping themselves to the produce I hope to grow!
