Plan Notes

First to be planted are broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, and spinach. Second to be planted are beans, corn, and tomato. Last to be planted are cantaloupe, cucumbers, lima beans, pepper plants, pumpkin, and watermelon. Corn Info -Yellow hybrid corn must be planted down wind from white hybrid or wait four weeks between planting. -Corn is usually ready to harvest approx three weeks after silk first appear. -When silk becomes dry and brown the ears are near perfect for harvesting. Germination Temps for plants -Lima beans 60 to 80 Harvest as soon as pods are well filled but while still bright and fresh. -Snap beans 60 to 85 Sow in garden about 1 inch deep. Space about 6 to 10 inches apart. -Broccoli 40 to 85 Use a preplanting fertilizer such as 10-10-10. -Cabbage 40 to 85 -Corn 50 to 85 Plant 2 inches deep, side dress with planting with 5-10-10 and again when plants reach 8 inches tall, as well as 18 inches tall. Water need is greatest at tasseling time to harvest. -Cucumber 60 to 95 -Lettuce 32 to 75 -Muskmelon 60 to 95 -Pepper 60 to 85 -Pumpkin 60 to 95 -Spinach 32 to 70 -Tomato 50 to 85 -Watermelon 60 to 95
