Notes

Broad beans can grow over 1.5 m tall and require staking in particularly windy areas. Grow in a group of them together, as they will support each other. If they become too heavy when bearing, support them with a single or double line. Support plants in windy places. Cut down plants when finished cropping but leave roots in the ground as these return nitrogen to the soil.

Harvesting

Harvest about three to four months after sowing, before the pods become tough. Often get a second crop.

Troubleshooting

Black bean aphids often infest broad beans. Removing the growing tips helps to prevent them.
