Soil

Soil requirements depend on the species grown.

Position

Sun requirements depend on the species grown.

Frost tolerant

Varies depending on the species grown.

Feeding

Most need little if any supplemental fertiliser once established, but some species may benefit from extra feeding to encourage bigger, better flowers.

Spacing

Single Plants: 1.20m (3' 11") each way (minimum)
Rows: 1.20m (3' 11") with 1.20m (3' 11") row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

Make a hole at least twice as big as the rootball. Most species should be planted at the same depth they were in their pot. Backfill with soil then cover with a mulch of compost or other organic matter.
Our Garden Planner can produce a personalised calendar of when to sow, plant and harvest for your area.

Notes

Harvesting

Pruning requirements vary with species and flowering time.
